Milan, Italy. Tired but happy.

June 13, 2019

We made it into Milan about 5PM, their time, the next day. As we couldn’t sleep on the plane, we have now been up for about 24 hours with the layover time we spent in Manchester.

We get our rental car and drive to the Da Vince Hotel. Get it, Leonardo Da Vinci, Milan, Italy?? Just checking to see if you know your history.

Our family travel agent, Andrea, booked this particular hotel. There was one very over riding reason why she did that. The entire hotel is purple. I mean PURPLE. Guess what her favorite color is?

I said Purple, right?
The Lulmineer Room in the basement.

We got some food and drink at the lobby bar and crashed until the next afternoon.

Start of the Journey

June 12, 2019

We head out to the Orlando International airport with our good friend Chuck giving us a ride. We are about to start the first leg of our retirement travel with a 4 month trek around Eastern Europe and then Egypt, Jordan and beyond.

On the way to the airport.

In the airport we start with the first of many celebratory drinks. Hey, we’re retired. We can drink when and where ever we want to.

First drinks of the trip, many more to come.

We finally get on the plane and head out to Manchester, England to transfer to the flight to Milan. Oh, we had to celebrate that also.

Hey, we’re in Business Class, they’re free. Why not??

Here’s the view from about 10,000 feet as we head into Manchester. We left about 5PM Eastern time and arrive about 7AM English time to the sun up high in the sky. Hate it when we outfly the sun.

High over Manchester in full daylight.

Time to find the connecting flight and try to get some sleep.

Be sure to look at the map below and follow our progress!!
